ATW - Automatic Trawl winch Control System

Naust Marine is a global leader in manufacturing top rated electrical winch control equipment

The Automatic Trawl Winch (ATW) control system is one of the most used electrical winch control systems in the world. It is the result of cooperative long-term collaboration (three decades) between Naust Marine, ship owners, and fishermen, who are all invested in advancing reliable systems necessary to do the work. The ATW software is designed and assembled by Naust Marine.

The ATW control system provides automatic load control for trawl winches. For each evolution, it shoots the net to a pre-set length decided by the operator. The ATW automatically and continuously ensures equal tension on the wires. Whether moving forward, going through cross-current or turning, the ATW controls the tension on both wires for securing optimal geometry of the trawls, resulting in maximum catch with minimal operational cost.

ATW Applications:

Danish seine netter - Fly-shooting
Danish seine winches (Fly-shooting) can operate with high-speed shooting. When shooting, the motors provide high speed and during lower RPMs they supply high torque. Wire tension and wire length are measured by the ATW control system directly from the motor current and RPM. Towing winches can operate as Danish seine winches.

2x Split Winches
Both winches can work simultaneously and with the same torque. Wire tension and wire length are measured by the ATW control system directly from the motor current and RPM.
These measurements are used to adjust torque ensuring constant tension in both wires, which is highly advantageous in rough seas and frequently changing vessel course.

Twin-Rig Trawling
Starboard and portside winches can work simultaneously with the same torque. Wire tension and wire length are measured by the ATW control system directly from the motor current and RPM. Measurements are used to adjust the torque to keep consistent tension in both winches' wires. The length of the mid-wire is adjusted in accordance with the length of the starboard and portside wires.

Why choose ATW - Automatic Trawl winch Control System

Quality Components for Heavy-Duty Work!
All components within the Automatic Trawl Winch (ATW) Control system are of the highest quality and specially selected considering almost 30 years' experience with Automatic Trawling in the North-Atlantic.

Maximize Fishing Efficiency
Our experience in designing and maintaining Auto Trawl systems has taught us to integrate power, speed, and volume factors to obtain maximum efficiency of each trawler. With the help of state-of-the-art technology, like the Auto-Gen Power Management system, the power of the main engine and auxiliary engines are integrated to increase the power and propulsion of the ATW.

Double Security
The ATW is constructed with the highest industrial standards of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) technology. If the front bridge PC Control Computer goes offline, the ATW can still be controlled from the aft bridge: In such instances all automatic systems will still function.
