Naust Marine's employees are now working on installing an ATW system in the Meridian trawler General Troshev in the Ukrainian city of Nikolayev, north of the Black Sea. Two men from Naust Marine have already been in Nikolayev to install the system and the third is there now finishing up the work. The plan is to launch the ship later this year.
The ship is owned by the Russian company JSC Preobrazhenskaya. It was one of the last Meridian ships to be built before the collapse of the Soviet Union but has never been launched.
During that time 25.000 people worked at Nikolayev´s shipyard. Now the employees are around 2.000.
113 Meridian trawlers were built in Nikolayev from 1974 , including 9 research ships. General Trosherv is one of few Meridian trawlers built with a freezing facility, with the capacity of 150 tons per day.
