The ATW (Automatic Trawl Winch) system delivered by Naust Marine to American Seafoods/ F/T Northern Eagle was successfully installed and commissioned during the Pollock A Season that began in January . The installation was done in Seattle prior to the season, with sea trials and final commissioning done in the North Pacific.
„We are very happy with the system, happy with the support. There is nothing else to say,“ said Capt. Jens Johnsen of the FT/ Northern Eagle after using his Naust Marine ATW system for a season. „It is a great improvement over what we had before. It keeps us off the bottom, keeps us out of trouble. There are lots of adjustments we can make now that we couldn´t do before.“
The ATW system delivered to American Seafoods represents the largest and most complex system sold in the USA by Naust Marine, which had previously delivered a system to B&N Seafoods F/V Bristol Explorer in 2006. The system delivered to Northern Eagle includes 2ea Ibercisa MAI-E/600/4400-36/IS towing winches (max pull 95 tons), 2ea Ibercisa MCS-E/E/50/4000-11,2 Third Wire winches, 380 kw DC motors, as well as a harmonic filtering system and 4ea AUTO GEN systems for load sharing generators.
Harris Electric Inc. assisted Naust Marine in delivering the ATW system with switchboard modifications and sales support. In addition, several Harris Electric fieldengineers have been given technical training by Naust Marine, both in the US and Iceland, to be able to serve customers with Naust Marine´s ATW systems from locations in Seattle WA and Duch Harbor AK.
Naust Marine has delivered more than 80 Automatic Trawl Winch systems worldwide as well as 30 Auto Gen systems. Electrical winch systems are increasingly viewed by vessel owners and operators as a more efficient and enviounmentally friendly alternative to comparable hydraulic systems.
