Helga RE-49 arrived recently to its homeport in Reykjavík from Taiwan. She is the third and last ship built for Iceland in Ching Fu shipyard. The other two are Skinney and Þórir that arrived to Iceland earlier this year.
Naust Marine supplied the ATW Catch-Control and Auto-gen system and also built the main switchboard. This is the first time Naust Marine has installed electrical winches in a ships of this size. Until now it has only been used in bigger vessels.
The experience in Skinney and Þórir has been very good and the crew is relived to be without the constant noise of the hydraulic systems. The electric winches are very quiet and also they save a lot of energy compared to hydraulic systems because the motors are only taking energy when the winches are working. This way the system saves fuel. Helga RE-49 owned by Ingimundur hf. in Iceland.
