Naust Marine has reached a deal with the firm Þorbjörn HF in Grindavík Iceland. Þorbjörn owns and operates the freezer trawler Gnúpur GK 11. According to the deal the ship' s ATW system will be upgrated and two sweepline winch motors replaced.
After the changes the sweepline winches will be controlled by step-less speed controll, a great improvement from step divided controll. This does also open possibilities for faster shooting and hauling, which can save a lot of time.
There are original electrical winches from 1981 on board Gnúpur but the controll-system for the winches was changed ten years ago. With the new upgrade Scantrol’s system viewer (HMI) will be replaced by Naust Marine´s system viewer (HMI). The PLC computer and controll system in the bridge and the winch-cabin will also be upgraded.
When the upgrades are complete Naust Marine´s technicians will be able to connect to the ship´s ATW system through the internet or a phone connection. This can be very practical if something breaks down or if changes to the system are required. It also creates an option for coaching through the internet or phone which can save a lot of time and improves service.
