AUTO GEN - Power management system
Naust Marine´s
Auto Gen Power management system is an automatic electrical system meant to
increase propulsion power, reduce oil consumtion and demand for maintainance.
The Auto-Gen
system is suitable for upgrading older fishing vessels, that have too small main engines to benefit from the newest fishing
technology, - like the ATW system.
The three main
advantages of the AUTO-GEN system are:
1.
Increased propulsion power by added auxiliary power through the shaft
generator.
2.
By sharing the load of all the diesel engines equally, extreme load on
individual engines is avoided. This results in lower maintenance cost and less
oil consumption.
With extra equipment the AUTO-GEN may
be used as alternative facility to a broken main engine, transferring auxiliary
power to the propeller through the shaft generator.
The AUTO-GEN equipment
The main component of the AUTO-GEN
system is the SYMAP unit, which controls each generator and links it to the
other SYMAP units for smooth synchronous control of the main system,
protecting generators and diesel engines.
In addition the system is
equipped with Power Management System, controlling the entire main system of the
ship.
Three different modes
of operation may be chosen from the AUTO-GEN control panel for the shaft
generator.
Mode A: Symmetric Load Sharing.
Both/all generators run at the same percentage of their rated power.
Mode B: Asymmetric Load Sharing.
Each generator runs at a preset percentage of its rated power.
Mode C: Asymmetric Diesel-Electric Sharing.
Each generator runs at a preset
percentage of its rated power. A certain percentage of the shaft
generators power is defined as available for powering propulsion. The shaft generator can therefore run as a motor increasing the propulsion power
of the vessel.
The AUTO-GEN system can be delivered
with a control monitor. This can be convenient for systems with many
generators but is not necessary for fishing vessels with 2-3 generators.
